Off Duty Firefighters Save Drowning Boy At California Hotel

While staying in a hotel in Redding working the Dixie Fire, a few off duty firefighters heard a mother's cry for help as her 10-year old son was drowning in the hotel pool. In a video posted by Cal Fire Butte Unit and Butte County Fire Department, the men said they hopped the fence and dove into action. The rescued the boy and said they were able to breathe a sigh of relief when he started crying, saying when they get enough air to cry, that means their airway is no longer blocked. The boy was sent to a nearby hospital to check for further injuries. The group of firefighters were staying at the hotel in Northern California as they work on batting the ongoing Dixie Fire that has burned over 208,000 acres and currently ranks as the state's 14th largest fire in its history.
