ESPN Announcer To Decline Game Day Police Escort, Doesn't Want To Be Shot

A prominent ESPN announcer is lashing out at law enforcement after hearing the news of the grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case. Mark Jones took to Twitter on Wednesday to say he doesn't want a game day police escort to and from the Saturday college football game he'll be working. He says he doesn't to risk being shot because of the color of his skin.

On the same day, Jones, who is African-American, also put out a tweet indicating that police have never protected him, but he claimed they have pointed guns at him.

Jones hasn't been hesitant to share his opinion on racial tensions via social media.

However, he's also reportedly tweeted his thanks to police who have helped him in the past. For example, he thanked the Syracuse Police Department in a 2018 tweet in which he is seen posing with two people who appear to be white officers, one a woman and the other a man.
