New York Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler had to be taken to a hospital on Friday after appearing to almost lose consciousness during a media event in Manhattan.
The 71-year-old Nadler was sitting next to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio after making public comments during the event regarding speed camera installation. The mayor stopped in the middle of his own remarks to offer Nadler some water ask if he felt dehydrated.
Doctors were quickly summoned to examine Nadler after he raised his hand to his head and seemed to be disoriented. Reporters were escorted from the room before Nadler, who is the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, was transported to the hospital.
A spokesperson later said that Nadler recovered and was simply dehydrated.
