'Dogs dominate Waves at Aquatics Center

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State swim and dive team defeated Pepperdine after a two-day meet at the Fresno State Aquatics Center, 215-81.

In her first meet of the season, Natalia Bedolla earned herself a NCAA Zones cut in the 1-meter with a score of 274.58. Bedolla, Ryley Calrk and Laura Kalmar each saw two event wins on Saturday afternoon.

How it happened

Fresno State opened with the 200 medley relay to finish in the top two spots. Bulldogs' took the next five event wins. Laura Kalmar (4:32.96), Katie Ueda (4:34.81) and Korrie Tengan (4:38.20) swept the 400 IM. Freshman Ryley Clark (56.83) and Franzi Djatej (58.85) went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke.

In the diving well, Natalia Bedolla won both diving events in the 1-meter and 3-meter. In Bedolla's first meet of the season she also dove for an NCAA's zone cut in the 1-meter with a score of 274.5. Grace Ally took second in both diving disciplines with a score of 254.63 (3-meter) and 246.53 (1-meter).

Fresno State's 'A' relay swam the top time, good for 1:37.52, maxed out on relay earning points.

"Very exciting meet, the team had multiple lifetime bests," said head coach Jeanne Fleck, "It was a great weekend, Julia (Matney) swam her best time in the butterfly by four second."

Up Next: Divers will head to Berkeley for the Cal Diving Invitational on Jan. 16-18 (All Day) while the swimmers next opponent will be UC Davis on Jan. 24 at the Schaal Aquatic Center beginning at 2 p.m. PT.
