Beal signed as UDFA by Tampa Bay Rays

TAMPA, Fla. – Fresno State right-handed pitcher Noah Beal has been signed by the Tampa Bay Rays as an undrafted free agent.

Beal spent one season with the Diamond 'Dogs, making 16 starts and earning a 4-4 record.

In his time at Fresno State, Beal struck out a team-leading 93 batters in 79.0 innings pitched. Beal gave up only 45 earned runs, giving him a 5.13 ERA, the second-best on the team. In his single season at Fresno State, Beal was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week twice (March 11 and April 8). During the Mountain West Championship in San Diego, Calif., Beal struck out a career-high 12 batters in the Bulldogs' elimination game over regular-season champion Air Force.

Before becoming a Bulldog, Beal played for MW opponent UNLV for three seasons. As a Hustlin' Rebel, he owned a 6.37 ERA with an overall record of 11-7 in 149.2 innings. He started in 25 games for the Rebels and had 41 appearances on the mound. In addition, he struck out 122 batters and gave up only 106 earned runs in three seasons.

The Clovis High School grad closed out his four-year collegiate career with an ERA of 5.75 in 228.2 innings, striking out 215 batters.
