Crawford signs with Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. – Alex Crawford became the first signee for Fresno State head men's basketball coach Vance Walberg on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward joins the Bulldogs after one season at San Diego City College.

"Alex is a tremendous athlete who is only going to improve his game in our style of play. His versatility is what we are most excited for because he has elite athleticism while also shooting 42% from 3 last year," Walberg said.

"With us, I believe Alex's game is going to expand exponentially. I'm excited to have him as my first signee. He's a tremendous young man and one the Red Wave will really like."

In one season at SDCC, Crawford averaged 15.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. He shot 65.7% from the field and 42.9% from 3-point range. The native of Coronado, Calif. posted eight 20-point games, including a season-high 26 on Feb. 9 against Imperial Valley. Six of those performances came in his final 10 games.

Along with the Knights winning the PCAC title and finishing 26-5, 15-1 in the league, Crawford helped them to the C2A state championship quarterfinals for the first time since 2018. He was named to the PCAC first team and CCCMBCA All-State team.

Crawford began his career at Stetson where he played in 24 games, scoring double figures in three.
