'Dogs fall 7-6 in heartbreaker against Roadrunners

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team dropped a heartbreaker to CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

CSU Bakersfield scored in the bottom of the first with a bases-loaded walk.

A passed ball in the top of the second allowed Murf Gray to tie the game in the top of the second, but the Road Runners added a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning due to a throwing error and an RBI single.

The Bulldogs started to chip away in the top of the fourth, scoring on an RBI single from Murf Gray.

CSUB answered with a three-run inning to make it 6-2 after the fourth.

Bobby Blandford hit an RBI single and drove in the Bulldogs' third run in the top of the sixth and Eddie Saldivar drove in the fourth run in the eighth.

Back-to-back RBIs from Grady Morgan and Bobby Blandford tied the game in the top of the ninth.

The Bulldogs could not hold off the Roadrunners who walked it off in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI single to take a 7-6 victory over Fresno State.

NOTES

Rocco Peppi went three-for-five on the night and has reached base in every game so far for the Bulldogs.

Former Roadrunner Jaykob Acosta spent the longest stint on the mound tonight with 2.1 scoreless innings pitched.

Fresno State returns home for a three-game series against Nevada starting on Friday at 6:05 p.m. PT at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
