IRVINE, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team was defeated by the USC Trojans, 10-1, on Tuesday night at OC Great Park in Irvine, Calif.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans were the first to score with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first.
Fresno State tied the score in the top of the second as Murf Gray walked to lead off followed by a double from Ben Newton. Tyler Davis grounded out and sent Gray to the plate to score.
After four scoreless innings, the Trojans added six runs after an RBI triple and three-straight RBI singles, a wild pitch and a fielder's choice in the bottom of the sixth.
USC kept the runs coming with three more in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly.
The Trojans held the Bulldogs to one run with a final score of 10-1 in USC's favor.
NOTES
Rocco Peppi led the Bulldogs with two hits, extending his hit streak to 18 games.
Fresno State pitching combined for seven strikeouts on the night.
