LYNCHBURG, VA. - Aliz Kalmar wraps up the weekend at the ISCA Open at the Liberty Natatorium.
Kalmar earned wins in both the women's 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:29.73 and the women's 100m breaststroke (1:09.44.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
In a mixed field of collegiate and non-collegiate swimmers, Kalmar would find a more diverse field of competitors this weekend, as the only Fresno State swimmer to compete this weekend.
Kalmar would find herself at the top of the field in Lynchburg in both events as the top seed to close out prelims in the breaststroke events, 100 breaststroke (1:09.82) and the 200 breaststroke (2:33.13.)
"It was a solid weekend. We wanted to make some progress on her Olympic time she needs to make (for Hungary.) said head coach Jeanne Fleck, "The 200 was her best event, going a time she had not done in three years."
For the third time this season, Kalmar would take first place in both breaststroke events. In the 100 breaststroke with a final time of 1:09.44 and in the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:29.73.
While Kalmar's times are qualifying times for the US Olympic trials, as an international swimmer Kalmar will need a FINA A Cut qualifying time to represent Hungary at the Paris 2024 Olympic games.
Kalmar will have a few more long course opportunities this season to swim for a qualifying time for the World Championships in Doha in February and potentially the Olympics.
