'Dogs win streak ends in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Fresno State women's basketball team endured their first loss of the season on the road against CSU Bakersfield.

'Dogs saw plenty of physical action on the court against the Roadrunners drawing 20 fouls and 17 personal fouls. Junior Keely Brown saw herself on the free throw line, going 5-9 on free throws.Bulldogs shot 69% (20-29) from the free throw line.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Roadrunners opened the game out scoring the Bulldogs 11-8, taking the lead for over seven minutes in the first period. A jump shot outside the paint by Sydney Dethman and a fast break three-pointer at the buzzer by Brown would put the 'Dogs up by four to close out the first ten minutes of play.

Bulldogs would note their biggest scoring period in the second with 21 points. Seven of those points from Brown, her second three-pointer of the night giving the 'Dogs a nine point lead.

Fresno State would lead by ten to close out the first half.

The Roadrunners quickly rebounded to start the second half, going on a nine point scoring run in five minutes of play. Bakersfield would then tie up the game three times, twice off a Fresno State missed three-pointer.

Bulldogs' would open the fourth period tied once again, 45-45. Leading by two points with :44 left in play, a three-pointer by the Roadrunners and a missed jumper by the 'Dogs would seal the deal.

CSU Bakersfield's top scorer was Sophia Tougas with 22 points, seven rebounds and two 3-pointers. The Roadrunners scored three 3-pointers in the final period, their last one being the winning shot.

Deajanae Harvey makes her first appearance as a Bulldog, recording 15 points, six steals and a three-pointer.
