FRESNO, Calif. – After four goals on Thursday, the goals continued to pour in for Fresno State on Sunday as the Bulldogs defeated Colorado College 5-0 at Bulldog Soccer Stadium.
Kaelyn Miller notched her second brace in the last two matches, giving the 'Dogs a two-goal advantage less than 11 minutes into the match. The junior also provided an assist on the Bulldogs' third goal in the 17th minute.
Valentina Vivas and Kaydence Cortez-Garcia combined for Fresno State's fourth shutout during conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Like Thursday, Fresno State came out putting its opposition under heavy pressure from the start. Kaelyn Miller nearly put the 'Dogs on the board in the fifth minute but Regan Wallace got down to knock away the striker's attempt after she got through the defense. The deadlock didn't last long as Miller struck three minutes later. Pulling Wallace away from her goal, Miller got around the keeper and slotted home the match's opening goal.
Just over three minutes later, Miller doubled the advantage. A long throw-in into the box from Adriana Maldonado bounced toward Miller. The junior stuck her right foot out and flipped the ball toward the back post, up and over Wallace.
Miller wasn't done there as she set up Ciara Wilson with a diagonal ball through the Tigers' defense in the 17th minute. Wilson ran on to the bouncing ball at the penalty spot and struck it over Wallace.
The goals continued to come as Wilson set up for a corner in the 26th minute. The sophomore rolled a pass to the near post that Sabrina Welch redirected toward the back post, making its way into the side netting.
Fresno State added a fifth on its 10th shot of the half. Katie Morris cleared a ball at midfield that landed just outside the Tigers' box. With Wallace coming out to meet the ball, Klara Chapeyrout tracked the ball down, leapt up in the air and popped a right-footed shot over Wallace that found the back of the net.
