'Dogs see win streak end at Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. – Trailing by 17 at the half, Fresno State nearly mounted a comeback on the road at Wyoming, falling 24-19 at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Fresno State went three-and-out in its first offensive possession, Wyoming trotted down the field but was held to only a field goal once put in a third-and-long situation. Wyoming led 3-0 with 6:59 left in the first.

Wyoming extended its lead to 10-0 with a 14-yard touchdown pass by Andrew Peasley to Wyatt Wieland right at the start of the second quarter.

Jalen Moss got the offense sparked with a 50-yard reception to move the ball downfield. It was Moss who capped the drive with a six-yard reception from Keene to get Fresno State on the board with 11:17 left in the second quarter. Wyoming responded after stringing together an eight-play, 75-yard drive to extend its lead to 17-7 with 6:42 left until the halftime break.

Wyoming tacked on one more score before the half, growing its lead to 24-7 at halftime.

Fresno State scored the only points in the third quarter behind a 39-yard field goal by Dylan Lynch.

After forcing a three-and-out, the Bulldogs put together another long drive. But on a third-and-4 at the Wyoming 13-yard line, Keene was sacked for a 13-yard loss and left the game injured. Lynch came on a for a 38-yard field goal to make it a 24-13 score with 8:31 on the clock.Fresno State went for trickery on the kickoff with Lynch hitting a high pop up that Al'zilion Hamilton caught in front of the Wyoming sideline. Logan Fife moved the 'Dogs 48 yards in just over three minutes. On third-and-8, the signal caller rolled away from pressure and connected with Mac Delena to make it 24-19 with 5:17 remaining.

Wyoming worked three-and-half minutes of the clock, moving into a field goal range. Jon Hoyland's 47-yard attempt hit the right upright to give the Bulldogs 1:48 remaining to work with.

Fresno State got to midfield but on second-and-6, Fife was intercepted by Cole Godbout.

Fresno State sees a short week ahead with a Friday game at Utah State next week. The game will be played on CBS Sports Network with a 5 p.m. PT kickoff.
