ALBUQUERQUE, NM. – The Fresno State baseball team is scheduled to rematch the UNM Lobos this weekend at Santa Ana Star Field. First pitch is set for Friday at 5 p.m. PT in Albuquerque, NM.

The 'Dogs are facing the third-best team batting average in the country after coming off a 14-9 offensive battle against the USF Dons earlier in the week.

Earlier this year, Fresno State snagged a series win over New Mexico at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium with 5-3 and 9-8 victories.

After the win, Fresno State now has a 21-19 overall record and sits at 10-9 in the MW. New Mexico owns a 19-17 overall record (7-10 MW).

MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK… AGAIN!

Fresno State's Murf Gray has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the fifth week in a row the conference announced Monday morning.

Gray is now only the second player to win a Mountain West Weekly Baseball Honor for five consecutive weeks, tied with Stephen Strasburg who won MW Pitcher of the Week five times in a row in 2008.

This past week, Gray owned a .250 average and .550 slugging percentage and crushed home runs in games against conference leader SJSU and Pacific. He also plated four runs and had six RBIs this week.

He currently leads the Bulldogs with a .293 average.

Defensively, Gray had several impressive defensive plays this week and earned four putouts and seven assists with a perfect fielding percentage.

TOM OF ALL TRADES

Junior Tommy Hopfe has started 36 games this season with the 'Dogs.

Hopfe has served as the designated hitter, first baseman, catcher and pitcher so far this season.

On the mound, Hopfe has earned eight saves, making him first in the Mountain West and 11th in the nation.

In the field, Hopfe has a perfect fielding percentage with 93 putouts and 13 assists.

At the plate, Hopfe is a clutch hitter, leading the team with seven home runs, 27 RBIs and 69 total bases this season.

STRIKEOUT KING

Junior pitcher Ixan Henderson has led the Mountain West in strikeouts all season long, currently with 71 over 60 innings pitched.

Henderson leads the 'Dogs with a 3.15 ERA with only 24 runs scored against him while only allowing 20 walks in 10 starts.

A LOOK AT THE LOBOS

Fresno State defeated the Lobos earlier this season at home with back-to-back victories to take the series.
