COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – For the first time this season, the Fresno State baseball team has two student-athletes receive Mountain West Weekly Honors this week.
IXAN HENDERSON – MOUNTAIN WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Senior Ixan Henderson has earned his first Mountain West Weekly Honor of the season after being named MW Pitcher of the Week.
Henderson was on the mound for seven innings in Fresno State's series-opening win over No. 9 UCSB on Friday afternoon at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
Through seven innings, Henderson held a 1.29 ERA and held the Gauchos to a .095 average.
He also added 8 more strikeouts to his resume to increase his season total to 49, continuing his streak sitting at first place in the conference for season strikeouts.
Through 25 batters faced, Henderson only gave up 2 hits and one earned run.
MURF GRAY – MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
In back-to-back weeks and for the second time in his collegiate career, infielder Murf Gray has been named Mountain West Freshman of the week.
Gray had a spot in all four Bulldog matchups this week and owned a team-leading .429 average after having achieved six hits, six RBIs and three runs over 14 at-bats.
In Saturday's series-clinching win over No. 9 UCSB, Murf Gray led the 'Dogs with four RBIs, a new career high, after hitting his first and second career home runs in back-to-back at-bats.
Gray earned a .929 slugging percentage over the week with two home runs, a double, and three singles.
Defensively, Gray had eight assists through the week with a .909 fielding percentage.
