COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - For the first time this season and second time as a Bulldog, Fresno State senior right-hander Roman Angelo has earned Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Monday.
Making a pair of starts on the week, the Bakersfield native tossed 7.2 innings, struck out 10 and held opponents to a .160 average on the week.
He tossed a pair of scoreless innings against Pacific on Tuesday allowing one hit and struck out three.
Helping the 'Dogs clinch the series win over Nevada on Sunday, Angelo added 5.2 shutout innings limiting the Wolf Pack to three singles and matched his Bulldog career high with seven strikeouts.
Angelo currently ranks second in the MW in ERA (2.04), tied for second in runs allowed (5) and is fourth in opposing batting average (.194).
