Watch this video between a suspect and Tulare police officers. The suspect Jontell Reedom, a 27-year-old African-American man, gets into a scuffle with law enforcement. Reedom takes the baton from one of the Tulare police officers, and officers respond by drawing their guns and shooting Reedom.
The shooting turned fatal as Reedom was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. A group of 100 family members, friends, and residents responded during a protest and march Wednesday, saying the shooting was unjustified. Protesters carried signs reading "Justice for Jontell" and "Treat the Ill, Not Kill the Ill." Friends claim Reedom was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenage and was mentally ill.
Take a look at the footage and you make the call: was the decision of Tulare police officers to protect themselves against Reedom justified? Or did they use unnecessary force?
