The Fresno Teachers Association and Fresno Unified School District are expected to finalize a new collective bargaining agreement for teachers that would end the possibility of a teachers' strike. FTA member will vote today, and the board of education will vote tomorrow to ratify the proposed contract. Fresno teachers were lobbying for better wages, smaller classroom sizes, and more student accountability regarding discipline. Meanwhile Fresno Unified officials at one point said if a strike did occur, the district would pay substitute teachers $500 a day to work in the district. Will the new contract be a good deal for teachers and administrators?
