Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is expected to present President Trump's border proposal for a vote. It comes as the partial government shutdown extends into the 31st day as congress remains in a deadlock over funding. Trump is demanding nearly six-billion-dollars in funding for a border wall that Congressional Democrats are refusing to provide. The president is now offering three years of temporary deportation protection for Dreamers, illegal immigrants brought here as children, in exchange for funding. The plan has been rejected by Democratic leadership so far, who do not want to negotiate until the government reopens. Trump tweeted over the weekend, calling the thousands of government employees who have been working without pay "great patriots."
