UC Davis Launching New COVID Vaccine Trial For Teenagers

UC Davis is launching a new COVID vaccine trial for young teenagers.

UC Davis Health says they will use a vaccine called Novavax, and are hoping to test this on 100 kids ages 12 to 17 and take a blood sample. Three weeks later, the kids get their second shot. The chief of pediatric infectious diseases at UC Davis Children's Hospital, Dr. Dean Blumberg, is one of the leads on the study.

Although some are hesitant about the trial, Blumberg says kids now account for over 20% of all COVID cases. According to UC Davis Health, as with previous U.S. clinical trials for COVID vaccines, patients who receive the placebo will likely be prioritized for vaccination if it is authorized for use.
