Overnight Earthquake Shakes Sacramento, Lake Tahoe Region

An overnight earthquake shook the Lake Tahoe region and beyond. The 4.7 quake was felt far away as Sacramento.

The California-Nevada state line was rocking, hit by an earthquake Thursday night. Shortly before 9:30 p.m., a 4.7 earthquake rumbled the area just north of Independence Lake. Its epicenter was roughly 11 miles northwest of Truckee.

A 3.2 quake occurred just minutes before in the region, as well as a 3.1 magnitude quake a few minutes after. Residents of Sacramento, roughly 80 miles southwest of the epicenter, report also feeling shaking.
