A single engine plane crashed Friday around 10:00 a.m. in a wooded area near the Black Oak Golf Course, just north of the Auburn Municipal Airport. Two people have died and one other was injured when the plane went down in the backyard of a home, according to California Highway Patrol reports. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased as 80-year-old Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr. and 55-year-old Anthony Wright Lawrence Jr. Both men are reportedly from Meadow Vista. The injured person was immediately identified.

Emergency responders from several agencies, including CHP, were at the scene not long after the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board will reportedly be leading the investigation to find the cause.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor told the Sacramento Bee that the plane was a single-engine Stinson Vultee V-77.

Dry Creek Road was closed as a part of the emergency response and subsequent investigation.

This is a developing story. KFBK will provide updates as new information becomes available.
