Accused Killer Of Sac PD Officer Now Facing Death Penalty

Prosecutors confirm they will seek the death penalty for the man charged in the ambush killing rookie Sacramento police officer Tara O'Sullivan last year. The announcement coming as Adel Sambrano Ramos appeared in court for a brief hearing Thursday.

The decision to ask for the death penalty comes in light of special circumstances added to the murder charge against him. Ramos is also charged with the attempted murder of seven other officers and sheriff's deputies during an eight-hour standoff. O'Sullivan, who was only 26 at time of the June 19th incident, was shot as she responded to a domestic violence call at Ramos' home. She was the first Sacramento officer killed on duty in 20 years.

Ramos is due back in court on May 6th.
