A tentative settlement agreement was reached between the city of Sacramento and lawyers representing the children of Stephon Clark, according to report published on Tuesday. The settlement related to a lawsuit filed following the shooting death by Clark at the hands of Sacramento police officers in March of 2018.
The Sacramento Bee says after a closed-door meeting with both sides and the judge it was announced the "parties reached a verbal settlement." However, a city spokesman is also quoted as denying the settlement announcement and said the City Council has not approved any such agreement.
There is no word on whether this settlement extends to the rest of Clark's family, and no dollar amount was reported.
The Clark family filed a $35 million claim against the city last year.
