Five People Close To Mike Pence Test Positive For COVID-19

At least five people close to Vice President Mike Pence, including his chief of staff Marc Short, have tested positive for COVID-19. Pence and his wife Karen both tested negative for the coronavirus on Sunday (October 25).

Pence's office said that he will maintain his campaign schedule in the crucial week leading up to the presidential election on November 3.

"While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr. Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel," vice presidential spokesman Devin O'Malley said in the statement.

Pence is scheduled to appear at a rally on Sunday night in Kinston, North Carolina, before traveling to Hibbing, Minnesota, for another rally on Monday.

During a rally on Saturday in Florida, Pence said he plans to be in Washington D.C. for Monday's vote to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

"As vice president, I'm President of the Senate. And I'm gonna be in the chair because I wouldn't miss that vote for the world," he said. "And I'll make you a prediction, come this Monday night, Judge Amy Coney Barrett is going to be Justice Amy Coney Barrett. We're gonna fill that seat."
