BERKELEY, Calif. – Fresno State closed the Brutus Hamilton Invitational on Saturday with a pair of wins in the jumps from Jabari King and Liz Tarczy.
Clearing 1.73m/ on her third attempt in the high jump, the sophomore surpassed her season best jump on her first attempt at 1.76m/19-3.25. With the win in hand, Tarczy attempted 1.82m/ but was unable to clear the height.
King claimed his third long jump win of the season, setting a new season best mark. The sophomore's top jump measured 7.23m/23-8.75.
On the women's side of the long jump, Matilde Guarino placed second. The sophomore just missed her personal best with a jump of 5.87m/19-3.25.
The Bulldogs also earned fifth-place finishes in the women's hammer and men's javelin. Maria Lawson landed a toss of 55.98m/183-8 while Isaiah Calvin had a mark of 51.06m/167-6.
STANFORD, Calif. – Fresno State picked up three Top 5 results on the final day of the Stanford Invitational, led by its women's 4x400 relay team.
The relay team of Itzia Mejia Garcia, Janae Heffernan, Miana Giovannini lowered their season best time to 3:38.93. Finishing second in the field, their team ranks eighth in program history.
After qualifying third overall yesterday in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles, Jewel Ash placed third in the final, clocking a time of 13.75.
In the men's 4x400 relay, the Bulldogs' group of Joziah Hagedorn, Bronson Ortlieb, Elijah Williams and Dane Koesterer lowered their best time of the season for the third straight week. The team finished fifth at 3:12.47.
SAN FRANCISCO – Fresno State wrapped up the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on Saturday with the 800 meters.
On the women's side, Victoria Nino recorded the team's best finish, placing 26th with a time of 2:12.18. Elijah Williams led the men with a time of 1:54.77 to finish 43rd.
