FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 8 Fresno State equestrian team fell 14-6 to No. 3 TCU in Texas on Friday morning. The Bulldogs will close out the regular season tomorrow at No. 5 Oklahoma State in Stillwater.
How it Happened
TCU jumped to an early 4-1 lead in the fences. The Bulldog point came in an 84-83 edging by Bridey Jones in her second ride of the season. Her 84 is the second-highest score of her career, and just her second career ride scored above an 80.
The Bulldogs earned two points in the reining, surrendering the final three to TCU. Brogan Hill and Alison Heupel earned their points. Hill continued her strong rides, scoring a 72.5, while Heupel was right on par with a 72.25.
TCU had a 7-3 lead at the intermission.
The Bulldogs stayed consistent in the second western event, falling 3-2 in the horsemanship. The pair of points were earned by freshman Hailey Olson and junior Abby Goddard. Goddard won her point with a 73.5 while Olson scored a 69.25 to take her point. Senior Kendra Lee had the highest score for the Bulldogs on the day, scoring a 77. She was narrowly edged by her TCU opponent who scored a 77.25. The loss snapped her four-meet winning streak.
In the flat, TCU won four of the five points. Freshman Paris Mahoney earned her point for the Bulldogs with a 78 to her opponent's 70.5. Senior Yasmin Roman tied her career-high with an 87, but was outscored with an 89 by TCU's Laurel Smith.
