Cliff named assistant coach

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State men's golf head coach Chad Spencer has announced the addition of former Bulldog Michael Cliff to his staff as the program's assistant coach.

"I'm thrilled to welcome Michael Cliff as our assistant coach," Spencer said. "Michael played here at Fresno State and had an outstanding career. He will bring a wealth of knowledge to our players and will be an invaluable resource for them on a daily basis."

Cliff, a Fresno native, was a five-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs from 2017-22. Over his career, he competed in 42 tournaments and recorded 10 top-20 finishes. He also posted the lowest individual score for Fresno State in nine tournaments.

Cliff is cemented in the program's record book with his 70.71 season scoring average in 2019-20, which ranks seventh all-time.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Cliff excelled in the classroom, earning five Academic All-Mountain West selections, four Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors, and three Academic All-American Scholar awards.

Following his college career, Cliff played professionally from 2023-24, achieving Canadian Tour status.
