COLORADO SPRING, Colo. – Chris Bettencourt was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference on Thursday.
Bettencourt tied for 38th place at the N.I.T. at OMNI Tucson National, marking the highest finish of any Mountain West freshman in the field. He carded a 1-under-par 215, which was also the second-highest finish for Fresno State.
Over three rounds, he posted an even-par 72, a 2-under 70, and a 1-over 73 in his spring debut.
The N.I.T. field included three teams ranked in the top 25, along with four players ranked in the top 125 nationally. Fellow Mountain West teams New Mexico and Wyoming also participated in the 14-team field.
