FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's tennis team will split the weekend on the road before returning home. Bulldogs begin their weekend at Santa Clara on Friday for an early morning match up with the Broncos beginning at 9 a.m. PT before returning home to host Sacramento State on Sunday morning beginning at 11 a.m. PT.

Bulldogs will travel for their first road match of the season to Santa Clara on Friday

Due to expected rain Friday's match against Santa Clara was moved from 11 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Fresno State has never dropped a contest against Santa Clara holding a 14-0 all-time record against the Broncos and a 5-0 road record

Bulldogs lead the all-time meetings with the Hornets, 18-5

'Dogs have not lost a home match to the Hornets since Mar. 2011

Eight of nine Bulldogs saw action on the court in the opening weekend

Fresno State returns home to host Sac State for the 13th time in program history

OPENING SEASON

Paulina Montiel saw her first official action on the court this spring. The true freshmen was a fall signee. In her first two matches as a Bulldogs Montiel only saw singles action in the third flight against Fresno Pacific and the fifth flight against UOP, going 2-0 on the weekend.

Yinglak Jittakoat was back on the court for the first time since last spring season. The senior played in the top flight for doubles in both matches and her first singles appearance on court three against UOP. Jittakoat went 3-0 in all matches played in the weekend.

A LOOK AT THE BRONCOS

Santa Clara opens on their best record, 3-0

Velizara Fileva and Anna Rahman are 3-0 in singles action with Rahman accounting for two match clinchers.

SCU sees a total of 10 players with four returnees and six newcomers.

The returnees feature three seniors (Kacey Feng, Velizara Fileva and Olivia Wiese) and one junior (Anna Semler)

With six newcomers in transfers Daniella Dimitrova (Baylor), Tian Yu Dong and Jamie Pope (SMC), Jillian Roa (Nebraska) and two true freshmen - Juliette Krumholz and Anna Rahman

The Broncos saw a six game improvement in head coach Allie Will Van Alstyne first season, Van Alstyne returns for her second season leading the Broncos

A LOOK AT THE HORNETS

Sophie Breault enters her fourth season leading the Hornets

Hornets opened the season undefeated with wins over UOP (7-0) and Dominican (6-1)

Sac State will need to get comfortable as their next five matches are on the road, starting with Fresno State

Sacramento State is the reigning Big Sky champions and were selected by the conference to finish first this season

Hornets had a big fall season with Lou Baudouin, Maddy Ferreros and Irene Riva having been selected to represent the Big Sky Conference at the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Championships

The doubles pairing of Ferreros and Riva saw a semi finals appearance at the ITA Conference Masters but fell to Vanderbilt.
