'Dogs lead over Tigers before weather delay

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's tennis team continued the opening week of spring season with a sweep of the University of Pacific Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Spalding G. Wathen, 6-0.

Singles were to be played out, until a cloud of rain poured over the courts halting the game on the final singles match. Fresno State held the win with points from the doubles clinch and all five other single match completions.

How it happened

Yinglak Jittakoat and Matilde Magrini were the first to finish on court one defeating UOP's Carmichael/Mayorova, 6-2. Klara Vukiceic and Andjela Lopicic clinch the point after a 6-2 win at No. 2 versus Pacific's McLead/Sam. Sofia Pizzoni and Eliza Dunbar's match went unfinished with a lone game lead, 4-3.

Five singles matches were completed before the heavy set of rain put a stop to the on going matches. Jittakoat played singles at No. 3 and saw a tight first set against McLead (6-4) before closing it out on a 6-1 second set. Freshmen Paulina Montiel has been playing strong with her second singles win in the number five slot, 6-0, 6-3 against Mayorova.
