BOISE, Idaho – The Fresno State volleyball team fell to the Boise State Broncos in straight sets to wrap up the regular season.
With the loss, the 'Dogs earned the fourth seed in the 2024 Mountain West Championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Boise State opened the match with a dominating performance, spearheaded by an early 7-0 run. This sequence included four service aces and forced multiple reception errors by Fresno State. Fresno State attempted to respond, with Jenna Legault finding success on kills assisted by Brooke Cowie, but they struggled to contain Boise State's efficient attack. Late in the set, the Bulldogs made a brief push behind a block by Mya Sellers and Ella Rud, but Boise State closed out the set with consistent offensive execution.
The second set was a thrilling back-and-forth battle, featuring 20 ties and seven lead changes. Fresno State was led by Ella Rud and Jenna Legault, who combined for crucial kills to keep the Bulldogs in contention. Fresno State briefly took control midway through the set with a 3-0 run initiated by a sharp kill from Kasey Purry and a Boise State attack error. However, the Broncos rallied, delivering under pressure. Fresno State reached set point at 24-23 after a block by Sellers and Cowie, but Boise State capitalized on a Bulldog attack error to clinch the set in extra points.
The Bulldogs found themselves in an early 6-0 hole in the third set, compounded by reception struggles and hitting errors. Despite a brief spark from Addison Haluska, who registered kills off assists from Cowie, Fresno State couldn't slow Boise State's momentum. The Broncos continued to attack efficiently, with Boise State the set and the match with a decisive kill.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the regular season with a 12-6 record in MW play.
Fresno State earned the fourth seed in the tournament and will face San Diego State in the opening round.
For the first time since joining the MW, the Bulldogs have closed out back to back seasons over .500.
