FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's basketball team earned their fourth straight win of the season against CSUN on Friday night at the Save Mart Center, 90-73.
Bulldogs were led by dynamic duo Mariah Elohim and Mia Jacobs. Elohim logged a season high of 23 points, while Jacobs marked her fourth double-double of the season with 17 points and 12 boards.
How it happened
Saga Ukkonen let it rip right off the tip-off with a deep three over forty seconds into play. CSUN went for a short and sweet 4-0 run for the lead minutes in and were quickly shot down by a Bulldogs dominating 16-0 run. In their longest run of the night, Maria Konstantinidou ignited the run with a second chance layup. Elohim put away nine points, all of which were three-pointers, and Ukkonen with a three of her own. Konstantinidou banks in a three-pointer in the final five seconds for a fifteen point lead after ten, 25-10.
Malaya LeSueur and Mia Jacobs joined the three-point action for their first points of the night, going back-to-back from the arc. Matadors worked layups into the basket to keep the 'Dogs lead under 20. CSUN saw eight points from the paint and
Fresno State held a 21 point lead over CSUN after twenty minutes of play, shooting 41% from the field, 42% from the three and 75% from the foul line.
Jacobs found her footing in the second half, grabbing her fourth double-double of the season. Elohim clutched her 20 piece on a layup in the paint, a new season high for the junior. Freshman Danae Powell recorded her first points as a Bulldog with a deep three.
It was a 7-0 run for the Bulldog in the final minute. Alannah Chatfield stepped onto the court for the first time since the season opener, cashing in a shot from beyond the arc, Powell trailed with a three-pointer to secure the 17 point lead.
