'Dogs sweep in second-straight match

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State volleyball team completed its second straight sweep and second sweep over Air Force this season on Saturday.

The Bulldogs are now 9-3 in Mountain West play, tied with San Jose State for second place in the conference standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fresno State took early control in the first set, quickly establishing a 5-1 lead following a powerful kill by Addison Haluska and an attack error from Air Force. Fresno State's front line, led by Kasey Purry's blocking and timely kills, maintained momentum, keeping Air Force at bay. Haluska had a strong presence at the net, especially in a mid-set surge that brought Fresno State to a 17-14 advantage. They held off a late push from Air Force and finished the set 25-21 with a kill from Mya Sellers.

The second set saw more back-and-forth action with Fresno State pulling ahead after an initial 4-4 tie. Fresno State used a strong blocking duo of Purry and Cowie to disrupt Air Force's offense, extending their lead to 12-8. A service ace from Sydney Gazzaniga helped build on this advantage, pushing Fresno State's lead to 17-11. The Bulldogs continued to press, with Haluska and Purry notching decisive kills down the stretch, securing a 25-15 victory.

Fresno State capitalized on multiple Air Force errors in the final set to jump to an early 6-2 lead. A service ace from Ella Rud extended the advantage, and Fresno State kept a comfortable lead throughout, with solid defense and kills from Olivia Keller and Haluska. Though Air Force made a late rally to narrow the gap to 24-17, Keller's kill ended the set 25-17, completing Fresno State's sweep of the match.
