Bulldogs fall 1-0 at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – In its final match outside of California this season, Fresno State was held to a 1-0 defeat against Colorado College at Stewart Field on Sunday afternoon. The Bulldogs were outshot 14-7 in the match.

Shivani Battaglia kept the game tight with the keeper producing a season-high eight saves for the 'Dogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Colorado College had Fresno State under heavy pressure throughout the first half. The Tigers piled up nine shots to none for the Bulldogs in the opening 45 minutes. Coming up with seven saves, Shivani Battaglia kept the match scoreless at the half.

Fresno State recorded its first shot of the match in the 47th minute, an attempt from distance by Sam Paepen that was blocked by a defender. A pair of corners followed for the 'Dogs as they seemed to pick up some momentum.

It was short-lived though as the pressure from the Tigers continued. Colorado College broke through in the 57th minute. A cross into the six-yard box on the near post from Brett Tsamasfyros was headed into the opposite netting by Finley Schoenbeck.

A high, looping ball from Katie Morris in the 64th

minute created danger for the Tigers when it clanged off the crossbar. Alexis Campbell got to the loose ball for the 'Dogs, but her attempt was saved.

Fresno State upped its pressure in the final half hour. All but one of the Bulldogs' seven shot attempts came during the final 30 minutes but they were unable to find an equalizer.
