SAN FRANCISCO – Like a year ago when she led Fresno State in her first race at Golden Gate Park, Khushleen Khakh did the same on Friday, placing 17th in the women's 6k at the USF Invitational.
It was the best time of the Khakh's career, moving into sole possession of 19th on the program's all-time list. The sophomore's time was 55 seconds faster than she ran a year ago on the course.
Six seconds back of her, and finishing 19th was Chiara Pedol, who was competing in her first race for the Bulldogs. The freshman's time of 21:56.0 ranks No. 23 all-time at Fresno State. The native of Chies d'Alpago, Italy is the first Bulldog freshman to debut with a Top 25 time since Sydney Fox in 2018.
Sophomore Emilio Nunez paced the men in the 8k with a time of 25.54.3, placing 52nd. The time was more than a minute faster than his previous best which he set last year at Golden Gate Park.
