QUICK LOOK
Following Fresno State's home stretch which concludes on Sept. 8, the 'Dogs won't be back at Bulldog Soccer Stadium until hosting Boise State on Sept. 26 in the Mountain West opener.
The Bulldogs are coming off their first draw of the season (0-0 at UCSB).
Goalkeeper Shivani Battaglia is tied for 10th nationally with two shutouts. The junior has yet to allow a goal from the run of play.
Senior Kaelyn Miller registered the third game of her career with a goal and an assist when she helped the Bulldogs come from behind ast week to defeat Weber State 2-1.
It was the Bulldogs' first win when trailing during a match since Oct. 8, 2021 (2-1 at Utah State).
Each of Fresno State's goals have been scored by a different 'Dog.
UNBEATEN IN 3
With a scoreless draw at UCSB on Sunday, Fresno State is unbeaten through three matches for just the second time in program history in a fall season (2006, 2024).
Fresno State was also unbeaten through three matches during the 2021 shortened spring season in which it only played conference opponents.
The 2006 team remained unbeaten through its first four.
LOCKING UP OPPONENTS IN THE BACK
Fresno State has allowed just one goal through three games. It is the second-fewest goals allowed in the Mountain West thus far.
269 Division I teams currently average more than the 7.7 shots per game that the Bulldogs are allowing per game.
KEEPING THINGS CLEAN
Heading into the season, a big question was who was going to replace Valentina Vivas who had been in goal for the Bulldogs since 2019. Central Michigan transfer Shivani Battaglia got the nod, and it paid off. The junior has two clean sheets through three games, allowing just one goal while making nine saves.
The two shutouts are tied for 10th nationally.
The native of Perth, Australia has not allowed a goal from the run of play,
Battaglia is the first Bulldog keeper to earn a shutout in their debut in a season opener since Kaity Revel on Aug. 31, 2007 (vs. UC Irvine, 3-0).
IN THE 90TH
Playing with 10 players for nearly 50 minutes, Fresno State completed a 2-1 come-from-behind win over Weber State in its home opener. Ciara Wilson slotted in the winner with 44 seconds remaining in the match.
It was the Bulldogs' first win in a home opener since Aug. 22, 2014 (2-1 OT vs. Eastern Washington).
The win was the Bulldogs' first when trailing during a match since Oct. 8, 2021. That day they defeated another team from the Beehive State, Utah State 2-1.
PICKING UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
With three goals in the final five matches of 2023, Ciara WIlson found the back of the net in match No. 2 this year, saving it for the final minute.
It was the first game-winner of Wilson's career.
All five of the junior's goals have come since Sept. 14, 2023.
MILLER TIME IS BACK
With eight game-winning goals in her career, Kaelyn Miller proved against Weber State that she doesn't always have to score the winner, just have a part of it. With less than a minute to go the senior one-touched a loose ball over the top of the defense that Ciara Wilson half-volleyed into the back of the net.
After missing the season opener, Miller came off the bench in the 31st minute and scored the equalizer in the 40th.
The equalizer moved the El Dorado Hills, Calif. native into a tie for ninth on the Bulldogs' career scoring list with current Mexico National Team member Myra Delgadillo.
