TYLER, Texas – Fresno State wide receiver Raylen Sharpe has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award preseason watch list, the organization announced on Wednesday. Sharpe, entering his first season as a Bulldog, transferred in from Missouri State where he was a FCS All-American a season ago.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or currently playing at Texas D1 four-year college. Sharpe is a native of Allen, Texas and graduated from Allen High School in the Dallas area.
Sharpe is expected to have a promising season for the Bulldogs, and fits right in with the explosive offense under offensive coordinator Pat McCann. In 2023, Sharpe had nearly 1,000 yards receiving, falling just below with 991 yards and seven touchdowns on a school-record 73 receptions.
He spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Missouri State, after transferring from Houston where he was as a true freshman in 2021. Sharpe is a versatile athlete with experience as a receiver and a returner, but he's also an athlete outside of football as he was a member of the track & field team during his time at Houston.
