FRESNO, Calif. - Following NFL training camps around the league, teams are preparing for their first bit of game action with the preseason games starting up this week. Fresno State has 14 players looking ahead to the preseason games with roster spots up for grabs.
The first week of preseason action sees five former Bulldogs facing off against each other in two games this weekend.
Through training camp, the Bulldogs saw three former players suffer injuries and move to the injured reserve of their respective teams – David Perales (Pittsburgh Steelers), Netane Muti (Detroit Lions) and Alex Akingbulu (Washington Commanders).

The New Orleans Saints have the most former Bulldogs on their roster with three, including two quarterbacks. Carr enters his second season in New Orleans, but first under offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Haener was listed as Carr's backup on the initial unofficial depth chart ahead of the preseason games. Haener and 2024 draftee Spencer Rattler are expected to compete for the backup spot this preseason. Mims had a productive camp, showing that he fits in the Saints' offense. He is currently listed fourth among running backs on the unofficial depth chart.

Jaelen Gill (WR)

Carlton Johnson (DB)

Johnson enters his first preseason with the Seahawks. Throughout camp, Johnson made plays as an undrafted free agent. The Seahawks have not yet released their preseason depth chart.
Fresno State has further ties with the Seahawks as former Bulldog offensive line coach and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb is in his first season as the offensive coordinator in Seattle. Grubb was on staff at Fresno State from 2017-21.

The former Bulldog suffered an early season-ending injury last summer that put him on the Chiefs' IR for their Super Bowl-winning season. However, his return has been promising. Remigio has made plays as a wide receiver and a punt returner. He is expected to contribute as both this preseason. The Chiefs have not yet released an unofficial depth chart ahead of the preseason games.

Mykal Walker (LB)

Bland and Cropper spent a majority of training camp going against each other in their positions. Bland returns as one of the league's top players while Cropper has just started to prove himself as a playmaker this season. Cropper spent the 2023 season on the Cowboys' practice squad, and used that to develop, and it has paid off. The Cowboys have not yet released an unofficial depth chart ahead of the preseason matchups.
