FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State softball head coach Stacy May-Johnson announced the addition of Raquel Savoy to the coaching staff as an assistant. Savoy will work with the Bulldogs' defense.
"We are very excited to add Raquel Savoy to our staff," said May-Johnson. "She has a strong understanding of biomechanics and has experience training top level athletes. She is high energy and passionate about the game and she will impact the program tremendously."
Savoy comes to the Valley with 14 years of coaching experience, including 10 years at the collegiate level. Most recently she founded Apex Motion Performance in 2023. Apex specializes in developing athletes using biomechanical analysis for hitting and fielding efficiency.
"I'm so excited to join the Fresno State softball staff," said Savoy. "There is a rich history at Fresno State, and I am honored to be a part of it. Thank you to Coach Stacy May-Johnson and the staff for welcoming me to the Valley with open arms. I'm looking forward to meeting the community and working with some awesome Bulldogs."
She began her work in athletic performance training in 2020 at both Prevail Performance and Kinetic Chain in Pleasanton, Calif.
Savoy served as a volunteer assistant for Cal for the 2020 season. She worked with infield defense and hitting, in addition to serving as the co-director of on-campus recruiting.
Prior to her season with the Golden Bears, she had a one-year stint at Santa Clara as a volunteer assistant coach. She aided the Broncos' coaching staff with day-to-day operations, as well as infield, hitting and catcher player development.
She served as an assistant coach at Chabot College for four years from 2013-17. She has also spent time as an assistant coach at Dominican University, College of Marin and Tennyson High School.
A native of Fremont, Calif., Savoy played third base and shortstop during her collegiate career, starting her career at Chabot College (2008-10) before transferring to Menlo College (2011-12).
