FRESNO, Calif. — Hayley Sullivan has been hired as the head coach of the Fresno State Dance Team, a position she started in May.
"It's so special to me to be named Fresno State Dance Coach because I spent my four years of college on this team," Sullivan said. "I've seen how much it's grown since, so to be able to come back and now be a part of the growth ahead is exciting."
During Sullivan's time at Fresno State, she spent three of her four years as captain and helped lead the team to nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Since graduating from Fresno State, Sullivan has immersed herself in the world of dance beyond college. She joined the Golden State Warriors Dance Team, dancing professionally where she had the opportunity to learn from the industry's best.
"We are all excited as to what Hayley will bring, she seems to be determined in all she does," said Angelina Manquero, a Fresno State Spirit Program sophomore. "As she's a former NBA dancer, I'm personally excited to learn from all her expertise."
Sullivan comes to Fresno State following her position as Clovis East's song coach for two years. She is excited to come back as a Bulldog to represent the Valley, and she is the prime example of "Bulldog Born, Bulldog Bred."
"My motivation for these girls comes from reminding them that it's a privilege to be able to represent Fresno State and the Valley while doing something they love," Sullivan said. "They were chosen to be on this team for a reason, and these years will fly by in the blink of an eye, so live in every moment, soak in every sideline dance, hours of practice, many appearances, travel time, and competition. So that one day you can look back at the good ole days and smile."
The 2024-25 Fresno State Dance Team was announced Monday, following a competitive day of tryouts. More information on the Fresno State spirit squads can be found on Instagram at @FresnoStateDance and @FresnoStateCheer
