FRESNO, Calif. – The No. 55 Fresno State men's golf team will make its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2010, competing in the Stanford Regional May 13-15 at the Stanford Golf Course.
Teams will play 18 holes each day, starting Monday, May 13 with the Bulldogs' tee times beginning at 8:25 a.m. PT. Fresno State will be paired with SMU and Missouri.
The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships which will be held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
THE FIELD
The 14-team field features eight top 50 teams in the Scoreboard Rankings. Along with No. 42 SMU and hosts No. 27 Stanford, the field features No. 6 Florida State, No. 7 Ole Miss, No. 18 Illinois, No. 19 Texas A&M, No. 31 UCLA, No. 43 Missouri, No. 55 Fresno State, No. 56 UNLV, No. 75 Augusta, No. 84 Liberty, No. 167 Sacramento State and No. 224 Sienna.

LAST TIME OUT
Senior Matthew Sutherland finished tied for third place at the 2024 Mountain West Championship after carding a 5-under 211 on the weekend, and Fresno State tied for fifth place with a score of 1-over 864.
The Bulldogs carded a 5-over 293 in the third round at the 7,210-yard, par-72 Emerald Valley Golf Club.
Sutherland's third-place finish is the best finish by a Bulldog at the MW Championship since Trevor Clayton won the individual title in 2016. Sutherland shot a 4-under 68 in the first round, 2-under 70 in the second round and finished with a 1-over 73 in the third round.
His third-place finish marks the fifth Top 5 finish by the senior this season.
Joseph Lloyd was the low Bulldog on Saturday, shooting a 2-under 70. Lloyd rose 18 places on the leaderboard to finish 13th with a total score of even-par 216.
Matthew Manganello finished 4-over, Mason Benbrook was 5-over and Firpo was 6-over.
FIRPO, SUTHERLAND GARNER ALL-MW POSTSEASON HONORS
Ryan Firpo became Fresno State's first Mountain West Men's Golf Freshman of the Year and senior Matthew Sutherland earned an All-MW team nod, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Firpo owned a 72.6 adjusted scoring average over 33 rounds this season, leading the league's freshmen. Firpo, who was featured in the lineup in all 11 of the Bulldogs' events so far, had four top-30 finishes, highlighted by a 13th-place finish at the El Macero Classic. The Davis, Calif. native helped the Bulldogs to five top-five team finishes this season, including runner-up efforts at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate and the Lamkin Invitational, and a fifth-place finish at the MW championship.
Sutherland earned the second All-MW honor of his career at Fresno State, after recording the lowest regular season scoring average in Fresno State history 69.6. The Sacramento, Calif. native had five Top 5 finishes and eight Top 20 finishes this season. Sutherland finished third at the MW Championship with a score of 5-under 211.
MANGANELLO'S MONSTER ROUND
Senior Matthew Manganello had a career-low round at the Nick Watney Invitational recording a 9-under 62, tying the program record for lowest round vs. par. He had seven birdies and one eagle in the third round.
Manganello finished the tournament with a team-best 10-under 203, tying his career-low. He finished sixth overall in the tournament.
IT WAS A SUTHERLAND SUMMER
Matthew Sutherland had an eventful summer bringing some hardware back to the Valley. The senior won the Sacramento City Amateur and the 99th California State Fair Amateur.
Sutherland qualified for the U.S. Amateur for the second consecutive year, where he became the first Bulldog to advance to the final 16 since 2009.
