FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior attacker Abbey Simshauser has been named the Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.
Simshauser led the Bulldogs with eight goals, three assists, four drawn exclusions, and four steals in two games last weekend to earn the final GCC Player of the Week of the season.
She registered eight points in the Bulldogs' regular season finale against Santa Clara behind five goals and three assists. She scored five goals on seven shots for a .714 shooting percentage in the win. The five goals were her second-most in a game this season.
The native of Sydney, Australia earns her second player of the week honor by the conference this season, bookending the year as she was the Week 1 selection as well (Jan. 25).
Simshauser and the Bulldogs travel north to Santa Clara for the GCC Championship this weekend. As the No. 2 seed, Fresno State opens play on Friday against the seventh-seeded Santa Clara at 12 p.m. PT. More information can be found at the GCC Tournament Central.
