FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team fell in the third straight game to San Jose State in a 9-2 ballgame at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Two solo home runs gave the Spartans an early advantage in the top of the first.
Michael McKernan hit an RBI single to plate Murf Gray who had hit a single to lead off the inning.
The Spartans extended their lead with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth. They extended their lead further in the eighth with a sacrifice fly to add another run.
San Jose scored four insurance runs in the top of the ninth, hitting a solo home run and two-run shot to make it a 9-1 game.
Rocco Peppi hit an RBI single to left center in the bottom of the frame, but the Bulldogs were not able to catch up and fell 9-2.
NOTES
The Bulldogs hosted a sold-out crowd of 3,575 fans at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium for the first time since April 16, 2023.
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs remain in first place, two above second place Air Force.
