Three Bulldogs named to Mountain West 25th Season Women's Tennis Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West is celebrating its 25th season of excellence on and off the field of play. During each Mountain West Championship in 2023-24, the Conference will recognize a 25th Season Team.

With the 2024 MW Women's Tennis Championship set to begin on Wednesday, April 24, eight different institutions have claimed the MW Championship title. UNLV leads with seven titles, followed by Fresno State and San Diego State with two each, while New Mexico and San José State each won one.

Below are the 25 singles players and five doubles teams who have been named to the 25th Season Team for Women's Tennis by the Mountain West 25th Season Committee, comprised of members from the 11 full-time institutions.

Three Bulldogs were selected, Yinglak Jittakoat and Sophie Watts were named to the 25th season singles team and Jittakoat and Matilde Magrini were named to the 25th season doubles team.

Current Bulldogs Jittakoat and Magrini were one out of five doubles pairs selected. The pair have earned a series of accolades together; qualified for the 2023 NCAA doubles round of 32, competed in the ITA All-American Championships, finished the 2023 season ranked No. 42 and named All-MW Doubles (2x).

Jittakoat played two seasons at Washington State before transferring to Fresno State in 2022. In her time as a Bulldog Jittakoat earned back-to-back Player of the Year, three-time Player of the Week (2022) and was named All-MW singles and doubles (2x).

Former Bulldog Watts played from 2012-2015. Watts was named MW Player of the Year in 2015, has earned 77 career singles wins and 61 career doubles wins, was named to All-MW singles & doubles teams three years straight.

Former Bulldog Zdenek Derkas, was also named to the 25th season Men's singles team.
