'Dogs take down Broncos for another home win

FRESNO, Calif.- Fresno State women's tennis team snaps a three game losing streak after earning their seventh home win this season against Boise State on Friday morning at Spalding G. Wathen, 4-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fresno State saw themselves even-matched with the Broncos on the court. Boise State made the move in doubles play, taking the first match defeating Charlotte Gisclon and Hannah Pieper on court three, 6-4. On court No. 2 Carolina Piferi and Eliza Dunbar start to drop their three game lead as the Broncos pair starts to tie up the match, 4-4. With the doubles point on the line. The final two courts were in a tight matchup both at 5-4 with No.1 favoring the Broncos and at No. 2 with the 'Dogs.

Bulldogs pair Piferi/Dunbar give the 'Dogs a fighting chance for the doubles point, 6-5. Last match on the court moved into a tiebreaker where the Broncos clinched the point, defeating Magrini/Kobayashi, 7-6.

Ready to grab points in singles play. Fresno State looked to take an early lead with four players taking the first set; Piferi (6-4), Gisclon (6-1), Pieper (6-1) and Kobayashi (6-3).First singles point came at the hands of freshman Hannah Pieper on court five. Pieper defeats Briones, 6-1 in both sets to get on the board.

For the lead, Charlotte Gisclon takes point number two on court four. Gisclon defeated Discenza, 6-1, 6-3. A double whammy to close in for the win. Piferi and Kobayashi call the game at the same time to give the Bulldogs another home conference win. Piferi defeats Heffernan 6-3, 6-4 and Kobayashi defeats Baptista, 6-3, in two sets. Freshman Daria Nazarenko enters back into the lineup, making her first conference appearance. Nazarenko's match ended unfinished on court six, but took the first set, 7-6, and led early in the second, 4-1.
