FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State softball team will jump back into Mountain West play with a road series against Boise State at Dona Larsen Park, April 12-14.

OFF THE BAT

Fresno State is coming off a 7-3 loss to No. 8 Stanford.

Five Bulldogs are batting above .300 in Natalie Elias (.392), Sophia Medellin (.380), Keahilele Mattson (.350), Kennedy Bunker (.349) and Lauren Almeida (.317).

Elias leads the Bulldogs at the plate with a .392 batting average and 51 hits.

Medellin and Kealani Nitta are both on an eight-game hitting streak.

Juliana Wilson has reached base in nine consecutive games.

MEDELLIN TABBED MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Fresno State senior Sophia Medellin was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for games played April 1-7, announced by the

conference on Monday afternoon.

Medellin helped lead Fresno State to a 4-0 week, securing two MW series wins over San Jose State and Utah State. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents 26-4 through the week.

Medellin had an explosive week at the plate, batting .500 (8-for-16) through four games with nine RBIs. She tallied three games with

multiple hits. The senior recorded one home run, one triple and two doubles.

The Santa Clarita, Calif. native started all four games at first base for the Bulldogs, recording 31 putouts and one assist. She chalked a perfect fielding percentage on the week.

This is the first MW weekly award of Medellin's career.

SCORE FIRST, WIN.

Fresno State is 19-1 this season when scoring first.

PORTAL PRODUCTION

Three out of the Bulldogs' top five hitters are transfers.

Natalie Elias (CBU) leads the team at the plate with a .392 batting average and 51 hits. Sophia Medellin (Cal) owns a .380 batting average with 46 hits and a team-high 36 RBIs. Lauren Almeida (Utah Tech) has a .317 batting average with 38 hits and 26 RBIs this season.

MATTSON MAKING HER MARK

Keahilele Mattson has etched her name in the program's record book. Mattson's career slugging percentage of .588 ranks No. 3. She ranks No. 6 in career home runs with 29, tied with Jamie Southern (2002-05).

Since joining the Bulldogs in 2021, Mattson has started all 188 games of her career in left field.
