ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Fresno State baseball team is back for more conference action this weekend against second-place New Mexico at Santa Ana Star Field in Albuquerque.

LEADING THE LEAGUE

With a 12-3 record and back-to-back sweeps against MW opponents, the Bulldogs sit at the top of the conference standings.

Fresno State has won eight straight conference games.

The Bulldogs also lead the league in ERA, sitting at 4.15 and the least runs allowed at 151.

Fresno State also leads the conference in looking strikeouts with 88, allowing the least amount of earned runs with 129.

Two Bulldogs top the league in hits this season: Eddie Saldivar with 49 and Tommy Hopfe with 45.

Tommy Hopfe also has the most saves in the league with seven.

NEW YEAR, NEW DOGS

Fresno State is sitting at a 23-9 overall record in 2024. Through 32 games in 2023, the Bulldogs had a 15-17 record.

This weekend will be the Bulldogs' first contests played on turf in 2024 and in 2023, the Bulldogs were 2-7 on the surface.

Through 32 games in 2023, only one Bulldog was batting over .300. This season there are six Bulldogs over .300.

At this point last season, starting pitcher Jake Dixon had a 5.09 ERA, and currently has a 3.74 ERA.

Murf Gray ranks fifth in the country in sac flies while Tommy Hopfe has the fifth most saves with seven.

Jack Anker has the 14th-best strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.00), seventh-best WHIP (0.84) and ranks 13th in walks allowed per nine innings (1.18).

SCOUTING THE LOBOS

New Mexico is second in the conference with a 7-5 conference record, 16-15 overall.

The Lobos are led at the plate by Jake Holland, batting .373.
