Fresno State senior Sophia Medellin was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for games played April 1-7, announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Medellin helped lead Fresno State to a 4-0 week, securing two MW series wins over San Jose State and Utah State. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents 26-4 through the week.
Medellin had an explosive week at the plate, batting .500 (8-for-16) through four games with nine RBIs. She tallied three games with
multiple hits. The senior recorded one home run, one triple and two doubles.
The Santa Clarita, Calif. native started all four games at first base for the Bulldogs, recording 31 putouts and one assist. She chalked a perfect fielding percentage on the week.
This is the first MW weekly award of Medellin's career.

Since joining the Bulldogs in 2021, Mattson has started all 188 games of her career in left field.
