SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team defeated the Cal Poly Mustangs, 5-2 on Tuesday evening on the Central Coast.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rocco Peppi wasted no time getting the Bulldogs on the board in the top of the first inning as he crushed a solo homer to left field.
Tommy Hopfe tripled the score with a two-run homer that scored Marco Pirruccello and sacrifice fly put Cal Poly on the board for the first time in the third inning.
Grady Morgan led off the sixth inning with a double and was driven home by a double from Ben Newton. Justin Stransky also earned an RBI, sending Murf Gray home to make it a 5-1 game.
The Mustangs scored the final run of the game in the sixth inning with an RBI double.
Tommy Hopfe shifted from designated hitter to the mound to close the game, striking out the final Mustang at the plate to earn his seventh save of the season.
