LAS VEGAS – The Fresno State baseball team secured a sweep over the UNLV Rebels with a 5-3 victory on Saturday afternoon in Las Vegas.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Rocco Peppi kicked off the Bulldog offense with a solo home run in the top of the first.
The Bulldogs scored two more runs in the top of the third with RBIs from Tommy Hopfe and Ben Newton.
Jack Anker held the Rebels to 2.1 scoreless innings before Aidan Cremarosa took the mound in the top of the third with one out. Cremarosa worked on the mound for his longest outing in his Bulldog career with 3.1 innings pitched, holding the Rebels scoreless and hitless innings.
Victor Arreola stepped on the mound to close out the sixth inning with two outs and the bases loaded, ending the inning with a lineout to center field.
The Rebels tied things up at three in the top of the seventh with a three-run homer down the left line.
Fresno State landed back on top in the top of the ninth as the 'Dogs scored on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and a sacrifice fly from Justin Stransky.
The Bulldogs closed the game with a quick three-up, three-down inning to secure a 5-3 win over the Rebels.
NOTES
Rocco Peppi hit a home run in the first inning in back-to-back games against the Rebels.
Grady Morgan went 4-4 on the day with a walk and a run scored.
The Bulldogs have now won nine-straight games over the Rebels, sweeping them in three-straight series, dating back to last season.
